Traffic on a busy stretch of Prithvi Highway will come to a complete stop on Tuesday morning, with all vehicles barred from passing through Majhimtar in Dhading for two hours.
The closure will run from 9am to 11am on Tuesday 3 November at Majhimtar, in Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality-9. It applies to every vehicle using that section of the highway during those hours.
The Dhading District Administration Office said the stoppage is needed because work on an overhead bridge and the upgrading of the road at the site is not yet complete. The administration acted on information from the Nagdhunga-Muglin road project office at Muglin in Chitwan.

The same section was closed on Monday from 11am to 2pm so the construction work could go ahead. That work could not be finished in the time allowed, so the administration has ordered a further closure on Tuesday morning.
A notice signed by Chief District Officer Laxmi Pandey (Gautam) asks drivers to use alternative routes while the closure is in force. The notice does not name a specific alternative route.
The administration has also asked drivers and other road users to follow traffic rules and road discipline in full during the closure period.
Prithvi Highway is one of the main routes linking Kathmandu with western Nepal, so a morning closure at Majhimtar is likely to disrupt travel for passengers and freight heading in both directions until the road reopens at 11am.
