Getting started
Making an account is free and takes about two minutes.
- Open Sign up and enter your first and last name, your email, a password and the other details the form asks for.
- Choose a username. It becomes your address, like www.niguro.com/ram_thapa. Use at least 3 letters or numbers; one dot or underscore between them is fine. While you type, a green tick shows when the name is free, or a red line says why not and suggests free names.
- Verify your email. We send you an email with a link; open it to switch your account on. Check the Spam folder if it does not arrive within a few minutes.
- Or sign in with one tap. Use Continue with Google on the sign-in page; you still choose a username the first time.
- Finish the three short steps: upload your photo, add where you live, work and studied, and follow a few people. You can skip any step and come back later.
Forgot your password? Use Forgotten password on the sign-in page and we will email you a reset link.
Demo: create your account
-
1Open Sign up and fill in your name, email and a password.
-
2Choose a username. A green tick shows as soon as it is free.
-
3Open the email we send you and tap the link to verify.
Your profile is what people see when they look you up. A clear photo and a short bio help friends find and trust you. Here is what each part is, with the sizes that look best:
- Cover photo At least 1296 × 360 px, a wide 3.6 : 1 shape (1500 × 417 px looks sharp). The striped corner is where your profile photo sits: the darker part on phones, the lighter part on computers. Keep faces and words inside the dashed line.
- Profile photo A square of 400 × 400 px or more (150 × 150 px at least). It shows as a circle of 96 px on phones and 112 px on computers, so keep your face in the middle.
- Name and username Your full name, then your @username: your address is https://www.niguro.com/username.
- Buttons What visitors can do: add you as a friend, follow you or send a message. On your own profile you see Edit instead.
- Tabs Posts, About, Photos, Friends and more. The pill scrolls sideways on phones.
- About box Where you live, work and studied, your website and links. Each line has its own privacy setting.
To change your photo or cover, open your profile and tap the camera button on it. You can drag a new cover up or down to place it. To edit your name, bio and details, go to Settings › Edit profile.
- Each post has its own audience. Before you post, choose Public (anyone), Friends or Only me. You can change it later from the post's menu.
- Your profile details. In Settings › Privacy choose who can see your birthday, where you live and work, your friends list, photos and more, and who can message you or post on your timeline.
- Blocking. A blocked person cannot see your profile or message you. Manage the list in Settings › Blocking.
- Think before sharing. Never post your password, OTP codes, citizenship number or bank details, even in messages.
- Search for a name or @username with the search box at the top.
- Open People to see suggestions and your friend requests. Tap Add Friend; when they accept, you see each other's friends-only posts.
- Follow someone to see their public posts without being friends. Pages and groups you like or join also fill your feed.
Home shows posts from your friends, the people you follow and the pages and groups you belong to, newest first.
Discover (the For you tab) shows public posts from across Niguro that you may like, even from people you do not follow yet. It is a good place to find new people and pages.
Popular shows the posts getting the most reactions right now.
Not interested in a post? Use its ⋯ menu to hide it, save it for later or turn off notifications for it.

Sizes that look right
Upload at the sizes below and your pictures stay sharp on phones and computers. Bigger is fine; we resize them for you.
| Image | Best size (pixels) | Shape | How it shows |
|---|---|---|---|
| Profile photo | 400 × 400 (at least 150 × 150) | 1 : 1 | A circle, 96 px on phones and 112 px on computers; the corners are cut off. |
| Profile cover | 1500 × 417 (at least 1296 × 360) | 3.6 : 1 | The same shape on every screen: about 360 × 100 on phones, 760 × 211 on computers. Your profile photo covers the lower-left corner. |
| Page and group covers | 1500 × 417 (at least 1296 × 360) | 3.6 : 1 | Exactly like a profile cover, with the page or group picture in the lower-left corner. |
| Page and group pictures | 400 × 400 (at least 150 × 150) | 1 : 1 | Pages show a circle; groups show a rounded square. Logos need some space around them. |
| Event cover | 1500 × 417 | 3.6 : 1 | The same wide strip, with the date tile under its lower-left corner. |
| Post photo, square | 1080 × 1080 | 1 : 1 | Full width of the post: up to 760 px wide on computers, the full screen width on phones. |
| Post photo, portrait | 1080 × 1350 | 4 : 5 | Shown whole. Very tall photos stop at 680 px high and get side margins, so 4 : 5 is the tallest that fills the post. |
| Post photo, landscape | 1920 × 1080 | 16 : 9 | Shown whole. With 2 or more photos in one post, they show as squares cut from the middle; tap to see each one whole. |
| Reels and stories | 1080 × 1920 | 9 : 16 | Full screen on phones. Story previews on Home are 96 × 150 and cut a little off the top and bottom. |
| Blog cover | 1600 × 900 | 16 : 9 | 16 : 9 on phones and in lists (16 : 10 cards). On bigger screens a 21 : 9 strip from the middle, with the title card over the bottom. |
| News cover | 1200 × 675 | 16 : 9 | 16 : 9 for the top story; smaller tiles cut it to 4 : 3, losing a little on the left and right. |
| Ad image | 1200 × 628 (or 1080 × 1080) | 1.91 : 1 (or 1 : 1) | Never cut: shown whole at the width of the feed or the side column (about 300 px), with your title and text under it. |
Safe areas. Some parts of a picture are covered by other things. Keep faces, logos and words inside the dashed lines:
Files. Photos can be JPG, PNG, WEBP, GIF, HEIC. Animated GIF and WEBP work in posts and comments but not as a profile photo or cover. Largest photo upload: 48.8 MB. Photos taken on a phone are usually fine as they are.
- Format: MP4 (H.264 video, AAC sound) plays on every phone and browser. Also accepted: MP4, WEBM, OGG, MOV, M4A, 3GP, 3G2, MJ2, ASF, AVI, FLV, M4V, MPEG, OGV, MKV.
- Largest video: 48.8 MB. If yours is bigger, export it at 720p or trim it first.
- Video posts: landscape 1920 × 1080 (16 : 9) or 1280 × 720. Upright videos work too and show whole.
- Reels: upright 1080 × 1920 (9 : 16). Keep words away from the bottom fifth and the right edge, where the caption and buttons sit.
- Stories: a photo or short video, 1080 × 1920. A photo story shows for 15 seconds and the story disappears after 24 hours.

- To stop someone messaging you, block them from the chat's menu or their profile.

- Find and join groups in Groups. Public groups can be seen by anyone; closed and secret groups only by members.
- To start one, tap Create Group, give it a name, a web address, privacy and a category, then add a cover (1500 × 417) and invite friends.

In Events, tap Create Event, add a title, place, start and end time and a cover. People can say Going or Interested and get reminders. Use it for a puja, a match, a meeting or a sale.

- Points: you collect points for posting and for reactions on your posts; 1000 points = NPR 1.

-
2Turn on the ways you want to earn and share great posts.

- Points: see them in Settings › Points and move them to your wallet.
- We never ask for your eSewa, Khalti or bank PIN. Anyone who does is a scammer.
More help
Search, safety and your account
Bhotu is our AI helper. Ask it in English or Nepali to explain something, write a caption, translate, plan a trip or answer homework questions. It can make mistakes, so check important facts, and do not share private details with it.
Type in the search box at the top (on a computer, press Ctrl + K). You get results from the web and from Niguro: people, pages, groups, posts and news, plus quick answers like the date, weather and rates. Use the tabs to see only one kind.
- Report: use Report on a post, comment, profile, page or group (the ⋯ menu or the flag). Reports are private; the person is not told who reported.
- Block: stops someone seeing your profile, finding you or messaging you.
- Two-factor login: turn it on in Settings › Security so a stolen password is not enough to get in. There you can also see and sign out your other devices.
- Scams: be careful with messages that promise prizes, jobs abroad or quick money, or ask for codes. We never ask for your password or OTP.
- If someone is in danger, call the police on 100 first.
Read our Code of Conduct and Terms to see what is not allowed.
Everything is in Settings (tap your picture at the top):
- Account: username, email and phone.
- Password and Security: change your password and see where you are signed in.
- Notifications: choose which emails and alerts you get.
- Verification: ask for the blue badge for a well-known person or business.
- Download your information: get a copy of your posts, photos and details.
- Language and night mode: switch English / नेपाली and day / night from the buttons at the top.
Go to Settings › Delete account. Deleting is permanent: your profile, posts, photos and messages are removed and cannot be brought back. Download your information first if you want a copy. If you only need a break, just sign out instead.
- What size should my cover photo be?
- Use a wide image at least 1296 × 360 pixels (a 3.6 : 1 shape); 1500 × 417 or larger looks sharp on big screens. The same shape shows on phones and computers, but your profile photo covers the lower-left corner, so keep faces and text in the middle and on the right.
- What size should my profile photo be?
- Use a square image of at least 400 × 400 pixels (the smallest allowed is 150 × 150). It shows as a circle, so keep your face in the centre with a little space around it.
- How do I choose a username?
- Type a name in the Username box when you sign up. Use at least 3 letters or numbers; a single dot or underscore between them is fine. A green tick shows straight away when the name is free, and you can change it later in Settings › Account.
- What size should reels and stories be?
- Upload them upright, 9 : 16, at 1080 × 1920 pixels. On phones the name, caption and buttons sit over the bottom and the right edge, so keep words and faces in the middle.
- How do I delete my account?
- Go to Settings › Delete account. Deleting is permanent: your posts, photos and messages are removed and cannot be brought back. Download your information first if you want a copy.
- How do I contact support?
- Signed-in members can open a ticket in the Support Center; anyone can write to us from the Contact page.
