How Niguro Ads work
A plain guide to our in-house ads: how to run a campaign, what it costs, where ads appear and what you can measure — and, if you just use Niguro, why you see ads and what you can do about them.

In short
Signed-in members can promote a website, a post, a page, a group or an event. You choose a budget and pay from your wallet only for views or clicks that happen: Rs.0.20 per view or Rs.3.00 per click. Ads are labelled “Sponsored” and follow our Advertising Policy.

Running a campaign
Create a campaign
Open the Ads Manager and choose New Campaign. You fill in three things:
- Campaign details — a name only you see, a start and an end date and time (in UTC, which is Nepal time minus 5 hours 45 minutes), your total budget and how you want to pay.
- Target audience — who should see the ad (see Choosing your audience).
- The ad — what you are promoting: a website (any URL), one of your posts, or a page, group or event you manage. Add a title, a short description (up to 200 characters are shown) and an image or a short video. A promoted post is shown as the post itself, so it needs no image.
When you publish, the campaign starts running at its start date. Our team checks running ads and can pause or remove any that break the Advertising Policy.
Budget and wallet
Campaigns are paid from your Niguro wallet, so add funds to it first. The budget is the most a campaign can spend; the smallest budget is Rs.3.00.
- Nothing is taken up front. Each view or click is charged from your wallet as it happens, so unspent budget stays in your wallet.
- Your wallet must hold at least the campaign’s remaining budget. If it doesn’t, the campaign pauses until you add funds and resume it.
- A campaign stops by itself when it reaches its end date or spends its whole budget. To run it again, edit it — move the end date or raise the budget — then press Resume.
- You can Stop, Resume, edit or delete your campaigns at any time from the Ads Manager.
Pay per click or pay per view
You pick one way to pay for each campaign. Prices are the same for everyone and there is no bidding against other advertisers:
- Pay per view (CPV) — Rs.0.20 each time your ad is shown on a page. Good for getting a name, an event or an offer seen by many people.
- Pay per click (CPC) — Rs.3.00 each time someone clicks your ad. Good when you want visits to a website, page or group.
Either way, views and clicks by you on your own ad are free, a person clicking the same ad again within 30 minutes is counted once, and visits from search engine crawlers aren’t counted.
Choosing your audience
You can narrow who sees your ad by what members put on their profiles:
- Country — one or more countries, or leave empty for everyone.
- Gender — all, or one gender.
- Relationship status — all, or one status such as single or married.
The Ads Manager shows the potential reach: how many members match your choices. Targeting applies to signed-in members; people who aren’t signed in can see any campaign. There is no targeting by age, interests or browsing history.
Where your ad appears
Choose one placement for each campaign. One campaign is shown in each ad space at a time, picked at random from the campaigns that are running and match the viewer.
- News feed — between posts as people scroll their home feed and the timelines of profiles, pages, groups and events. Promoted posts always use the news feed.
- Sidebar — in the side column of the home page, single post pages, photo pages, search results and the notifications and directory pages.
Other ad spaces — inside news articles (in the middle and before the last paragraph), beside single posts and in page headers and footers — are reserved for ad networks and direct partners, and are labelled as ads too. To discuss those, contact our team.
Measuring results
Open any campaign in the Ads Manager to see its analytics:
- Impressions and clicks, the click-through rate (clicks ÷ impressions) and the people reached (each person counted once a day).
- Spend, the cost per click and per 1,000 impressions, and the budget left.
- A daily chart for the last 7 or 30 days (days in Nepal time), and a breakdown by placement — news feed, timelines and each sidebar.
You see totals only, never who saw or clicked your ad.

The ads you see
Why you see an ad
A “Sponsored” ad with a “Why this ad?” link is a campaign from a member or business. It reached you because it is running now and you match the audience the advertiser chose — your country, gender or relationship status as shown on your profile — or because you aren’t signed in. We don’t use your messages, what you read or your browsing history to choose these ads, and advertisers never learn who saw them.
Other ads, in fixed ad slots, come from direct partners or from ad networks such as Google AdSense, which may personalise them using cookies. Our Advertising Policy explains how to turn personalised ads off.
Going ad-free
There is no ad-free option at the moment. Ads help keep Niguro free to use.
Reporting an ad
If an ad from a member or business is misleading, offensive or a scam, use the report (flag) button on the ad while signed in — our team reviews every report and removes ads that break the Advertising Policy. For an ad network ad, use its own “Why this ad?” or AdChoices icon, or contact us with the page address.
