Code of Conduct

How we treat readers, sources, colleagues, and each other — and how every member of the Niguro community is expected to behave.

Last updated: February 2026

Our Commitment

A Platform Built on Respect

Niguro brings together a newsroom, communities, and millions of readers. This Code of Conduct applies to our staff and contributors in their work, and to every member of our community in how they participate. We are committed to a space that is safe, honest, and constructive.

Respect

Treat others with dignity, even in disagreement.

Honesty

No deception, fake accounts, or manipulation.

Safety

No harassment, threats, or doxxing.

Accountability

Own mistakes and make amends.

For Staff & Contributors

Journalistic Standards

Our newsroom follows these principles in addition to our Editorial Policy.

Original Work Only

No plagiarism. All reporting is original and attributed. Borrowed material is quoted and linked to its source.

Fair Source Dealing

We treat sources honestly, keep promises of anonymity when given, and never pay sources for interviews.

Conflicts of Interest

We disclose personal, financial, or political interests that could affect our reporting and recuse ourselves where needed.

No Gifts or Bribes

Staff do not accept gifts, payments, or favours from the people and organisations we cover.

Accuracy First

Speed never trumps accuracy. When we are wrong, we correct promptly and transparently.

Honest Imagery

Images and video are presented truthfully. Manipulated media is never passed off as genuine.

For Our Community

Community Guidelines

We welcome diverse perspectives — but not at the expense of a safe, constructive environment.

Be Respectful

Disagree with ideas, not people. Personal attacks, insults, and abuse are not allowed.

No Harassment

Harassment, threats, doxxing, stalking, or targeting individuals — including staff and sources — is prohibited and results in removal.

No Spam or Deception

No spam, scams, fake accounts, impersonation, vote manipulation, or content designed to mislead.

Report, Don\u2019t Retaliate

If you see a violation, report it using the report option rather than engaging. Retaliation against reporters is treated as a violation too.

Illegal Content

Content that violates Nepali law — including hate speech and content inciting violence — is removed immediately.

Respect Rights

Do not post content you do not own or have permission to share, and respect the intellectual property of others.

Enforcement & Appeals

We review reports and take action — from content removal to account suspension — consistently and without favour. Users who believe action against their account was a mistake may appeal by contacting us.
