A Late Night for Nepali Football Fans as England Chase Their First Nations League Points

Nepali fans who follow the Premier League stars in England’s squad will be up after midnight for this one. England visit Prague to face Czechia in League A Group 3 of the 2026-27 UEFA Nations League. Both sides are still looking for their first points after opening defeats.

Spain scored inside two minutes against England on Saturday, but Thomas Tuchel’s team recovered to lead 2-1 at half time. Harry Kane then missed a penalty, Alex Baena levelled about five minutes later, and Mikel Oyarzabal made it 3-2 to Spain in the 74th minute. Czechia lost 1-2 to Croatia in their own opener.

Team News

Czechia are in a new era. Santi Denia, formerly a Spain youth coach, is in his first senior job after replacing Miroslav Koubek, who left following Czechia’s group-stage exit at the World Cup. Absences reported for the Croatia game included Tomáš Souček, David Zima, Tomáš Vlček, Denis Višinský, Lukáš Provod, David Jurásek, Tomáš Chorý and Matěj Ryneš. Adam Karabec was substituted against Croatia, so his fitness is worth checking.

England have their own selection problems. Declan Rice, Kobbie Mainoo, Cole Palmer, Marcus Rashford and Tino Livramento all withdrew injured, with James Garner and Morgan Gibbs-White called up. James Trafford is set to keep his place in goal despite conceding three against Spain. Marc Guehi and Nico O’Reilly were at fault for two of Spain’s goals, so Tuchel may be tempted to change the back four.

Predicted Lineups

Neither lineup is confirmed. Preview sites disagree on some spots, especially in England’s full-back and midfield positions.

Czechia (4-2-3-1): Horníček; Coufal, Hranáč, Chaloupek, Sláma; Sádílek, Červ; Ambros, Šulc, Šubert; Hložek

England (4-2-3-1, most likely): Trafford; Alexander-Arnold, Konsa, Guehi, O’Reilly; Anderson, Lewis-Skelly; Saka, Bellingham, Gordon; Kane

Prediction

England are strong favourites, and Paddy Power had them at 1-3, with Czechia at 13-2 and the draw at 15-4. Czechia are short of key players and still adjusting to a new coach. England have more quality but showed real defensive weaknesses against Spain, and Czechia have enough attacking threat in Hložek and Šulc to score at home.

Prediction: Czechia 1-2 England
