Reading time is estimated at 200 words a minute for English. Nepali Devanagari usually reads a little slower, so treat it as a floor.
What each count means
Words are counted on whitespace, so a word joined by a hyphen stays one word. Characters is the raw length of the text including spaces and line breaks, while no spaces strips all whitespace — the figure that matters when a form has a hard character limit.
A sentence ends at a full stop, question mark, exclamation mark, or the Nepali danda (।) and double danda (॥), so mixed English and Nepali text counts both. A paragraph is a block separated by a blank line, which is how a browser treats a new line in a textarea.
Nothing is uploaded. The count is computed in the page from what you type, so it works with the tab offline and no copy of your text leaves the browser.
