Recognition uses your browser’s own speech service, so the audio is sent to that provider for transcription — it is not processed on this page.

You can type into this box as well — spoken text is appended to whatever is already there, so it doubles as a normal notes field.

What recognition can and cannot do

Speech recognition turns what the microphone hears into text in real time, with a guess at what was said shown in grey until it settles. It works best in a quiet room with the microphone near the speaker, and it is far more accurate with short, clearly spoken phrases than with long unbroken sentences.

Language matters more than anything else. Nepali recognition needs a browser that ships a Nepali model — pick Nepali, and if the browser refuses to start the language falls back to English so the tool still works. Names, place names and mixed Nepali-English speech are where errors cluster, so read the transcript before you rely on it.

The opposite tool is text to speech, if you would rather hear something than speak it.
