Matthew Posey, Star of No Country for Old Men, Dies at 68

Actor Matthew Posey has died at the age of 68.

The news was shared by Ochre House Theater in Dallas, the small theater company he helped start in 2008. The theater announced that he died on October 2 and paid tribute to a life full of memories and the many people he touched.

Posey built a screen career that lasted more than 35 years. He appeared in the Oscar winning film No Country for Old Men, along with JFK and The Magnificent Seven.

On television, his work included the classic miniseries Lonesome Dove, the AMC western The Son with Pierce Brosnan, and Walker, Texas Ranger. His most recent role was as a bartender in Brothers, the comedy series starring Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson.

Away from film and television, Posey was best known in Dallas for founding Ochre House Theater, a tiny 45 seat space where he wrote, directed and staged original plays for many years.

In 2017, he survived being shot in the face during an attack at a Dallas bar. He was back on stage less than a month later, a comeback friends at the theater called a miracle.
