Passengers arriving at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu can now watch their luggage being handled on live screens in the arrival hall, after the airport started showing a direct feed from the baggage drop area.
Screens in the baggage claim area show the drop zone where bags are unloaded from aircraft. International passengers can follow their luggage as it moves towards the belt, and judge how long the wait is likely to be. The information boards above the screens also show each flight, where it arrived from, and which belt its bags will arrive on.
Until now, passengers had no direct information about how long their bags would take to reach the claim area. The wait often left travellers unsure of what was happening to their luggage, and with no way to check on its progress.

The airport says the change is meant to make baggage handling more transparent and organised, and the service more friendly to travellers. It is part of a wider effort to improve service quality, use modern technology, and bring the airport closer to international standards. For passengers, the change should end the guesswork that has long been part of arriving in Kathmandu.
Tribhuvan International Airport is Nepal's main international airport, handling flights from across Asia and the Middle East. The airport is the first point of arrival for most visitors to Nepal, and the arrival experience shapes a visitor's first impression of the country. The airport says it expects the live feed to make the wait after landing more comfortable for arriving passengers.
