Police in Kathmandu shot a man in the leg as they arrested him in Gokarneshwor on Thursday night.
The man, Sujan Tamang, was arrested at Gamcha in Gokarneshwor Municipality-3. Police say he is involved in fraud and robbery linked to US dollars.
Senior Superintendent of Police Dilip Ghimire of the District Police Range, Kathmandu, said Tamang offered to exchange US dollars at a cheap rate to lure people, and then robbed them. Preliminary investigation has shown this pattern, he said.

Police opened fire while taking Tamang into custody, and the bullet hit his right leg, Ghimire said.
According to police, Tamang promised people US dollars at a rate far below the market price. People who accepted the offer were then robbed instead of receiving the currency.
Police have not said how many people were cheated or how much money was involved. Tamang is now in police custody.
Police said further investigation into the case is under way, and more details will come out as the investigation progresses.
