Dhanusha District Court has ordered Irsad Khan to be held in prison on remand in the murder of 24-year-old Amin Shafi in Janakpur. The order keeps him in custody while the case against him proceeds through the courts.
A bench led by Judge Roshankumar Bhattarai gave the order on Tuesday, the court said. His mother, Saimun Khatun, was released on bail of Rs 100,000.
Shafi was stabbed to death on 22 Asoj near Janaki temple in Sonarpatti, in Janakpurdham Sub-Metropolitan City-5. Another young man, 25-year-old Imtiaz Rain, was seriously injured in the same stabbing.

Remand in custody is a court decision that a person accused of a serious offence should stay in prison before trial, rather than being released on bail. It does not decide guilt. The court will hear the case in full before reaching a verdict.
The court said Irsad already faces two attempted murder cases linked to earlier stabbings of two people in Janakpur. Detention hearings in those cases were also under way, it said.
For those following the case, a remand order is only an early step. The full trial, with evidence and arguments from both sides, still lies ahead.
The case will now move to the next stage of the court process. The prosecution and the defence will have the chance to present their cases, and the court will decide the matter on the evidence before it.
Until that process is complete, the principle that a person is innocent until proved guilty remains central to how the case should be reported and understood.
