Four local levels in the far west have been left without telephone service after a Nepal Telecom relay tower failed again. The affected areas are Chankheli, Sarkegad and Adanchuli in Humla district, and Soru in Mugu district.
The problem is with the relay tower at Natharpu in Soru Rural Municipality-1 in Mugu. It first developed a fault on 1 Kartik, and although it was repaired, it stopped working again five days later, leaving telecom users in the four local levels in difficulty.
Local representatives say repeated breakdowns have become a regular problem. Chankheli Rural Municipality vice-chair Premkala Shahi said complaints from residents are growing as the network keeps failing. Sarkegad Rural Municipality-1 secretary Pandab Budha said people in several settlements in Sarkegad have been left without communication since the tower at Jair Betal stopped working.

Nepal Telecom's Humla chief, Rinjin Lama, said the fault is at the relay tower in Soru and a technical team is carrying out repairs. Residents are now waiting for a lasting fix so the service does not fail again within days.
