Arsenal beat Slavia Prague 2-1 in the Champions League at the Fortuna Arena in Prague on Wednesday, with first-half goals from Noni Madueke and Viktor Gyokeres proving enough for the visitors.

Madueke gave Arsenal the lead in the 9th minute, putting the visitors 1-0 ahead early in the match.

Gyokeres doubled the advantage in the 38th minute, scoring to make it 2-0 and giving Arsenal a commanding position at the break.

Arsenal's early lead gave them something to build on, and the second goal before half-time left Slavia with a mountain to climb in the second half.

The two goals before the interval put Arsenal firmly in charge, and Slavia faced a difficult task to find a way back into the contest after half-time.

Slavia Prague refused to give up in the second half and found a way back late in the match, when Wiktor Nowak scored to make it 2-1.

Until that point, Arsenal had looked comfortable with their two-goal lead, but the late strike ensured there would be no comfortable ending.

The late goal changed the mood of the closing minutes, leaving Arsenal with a narrow lead to protect.

Arsenal held on in the remaining time, keeping Slavia at bay and seeing out the 2-1 victory.

The result was decided by that first-half display, with Madueke and Gyokeres giving Arsenal the platform that ultimately carried them through.

In the end, Arsenal left Prague with the win, having built their victory on a strong first half and then holding firm after Slavia's late response.
