Radhika Apte Says No to Cosmetic Surgery Pressure: "I Am Sick of Watching It"
Radhika Apte has spoken out against the pressure in Bollywood to change how actresses look. In an exclusive chat with Zoom, the Akka star said she would never have plastic surgery, cosmetic surgery or Botox, and would never take Ozempic.
She said the choice is not even up for negotiation. She recalled that at her very first meeting in the industry, a woman asked her to get a nose job and a boob job. She also said she was thrown out of a film she had signed after putting on three or four kilos, even though she had two months to lose the weight.
Radhika added that the pressure has not gone away. After the birth of her daughter, she put on weight and had to shoot Lust Stories 3 soon after, while still bloated from breastfeeding and giving birth, but she did not give in.
She said the film business has a responsibility to younger people who look up to actors. Too many people talk about accepting their bodies while having surgeries and taking Ozempic, she said, and she is sick of watching it.
Her period series Akka, directed by Dharmaraj Shetty, is now streaming on Netflix.
