House Fire In Siraha

A woman died after a fire broke out inside a two-storey house in Mirchaiya, Siraha, on Tuesday morning, police said.

The deceased has been identified as around 30-year-old Vibha Purve, the wife of Ranjit Kumar Mahato, according to police.

The fire started at around 11:35am at Mahato’s house in the Old Bazaar area of Mirchaiya Municipality-5. Local residents alerted police about five minutes later, at around 11:40am.

A police team led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Purushottam Prasad Pandey was dispatched to the scene.

Police found Purve’s body inside the house. Officials said most of her body had been badly burned in the fire.

The cause of the fire has not yet been established.

A team led by Siraha District Police Office Superintendent of Police Basudev Pathak also reached the scene to assist with the investigation. Doctors from Mirchaiya Government Hospital and electrical technicians were also involved in examining the circumstances surrounding the fire.

Police said preparations were being made to send the body to Dharan for a post-mortem examination.

Investigators are expected to determine whether the fire was caused by an electrical fault, an accident or another factor. Police have not yet released a conclusion about how the fire started.

The investigation is continuing.
