More than 10 years after actor Vishal Thakkar disappeared from Mumbai, one question continues to draw attention as his story trends again: Could he still return home?

Thakkar, known for appearances in Munna Bhai M.B.B.S. and several Hindi television shows, disappeared around New Year 2016. Despite years of uncertainty, there has been no publicly confirmed discovery of his whereabouts.

The renewed attention does not appear to be linked to a confirmed sighting or breakthrough. Instead, it has brought an old question back into the spotlight: what remains possible when a missing-person case stays unresolved for so long?

Thakkar was 30 when he disappeared.

According to earlier reports, he left his family home in Mumbai on the night of December 31, 2015, after taking ₹500 from his mother. He later contacted his father and said he was going to a party.

The following day, he was reportedly seen around the Ghodbunder Road area and told his girlfriend that he needed to go to Andheri for a shoot.

His phone was subsequently switched off.

No publicly verified account has established what happened after those final known movements.

Could someone remain missing for 10 years and still return?

A long absence does not, by itself, establish that a missing person has died.

People can remain unidentified or out of contact for years for many different reasons. Missing-person investigations can also generate new information long after the original disappearance, particularly when records, witnesses or previously overlooked details become available.
